Skilled Touch for Better Movement
Manual therapy at Alpha Animal Rehab & Fitness provides targeted, hands-on treatment to address pain, stiffness, and mobility challenges. Through soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilization, and other specialized techniques, our certified team works to restore function, reduce discomfort, and support your pet’s recovery. Each session is customized to ensure high-level, individualized care.
Targeting Specific Areas
Utilizing soft tissue mobilization during rehabilitation and fitness sessions allows us to focus on specific areas of the animal. This process ensures every pet receives high-level, hands-on care at our facility.
For animal rehabilitation treatment sessions that utilize soft-tissue mobilization (STM), treatment goals are specific to each animal, but in general include increasing circulation, decreasing swelling, increasing tissue extensibility, reducing adhesions, increasing scar mobility, decreasing pain, decreasing muscle spasm, promoting tendon and ligament healing, increasing range of motion (ROM), eliminating trigger points or tender points, and facilitating or inhibiting neuromuscular activity.
Joint Mobilization
Joint mobilization is a skilled manual therapy technique aimed at improving joint range of motion and reducing pain. To incorporate joint mobilization, the therapist manually applies targeted pressure or force to a joint in specific directions to improve its mobility. It can be performed at varying intensities and is usually pain-free. Joint mobilization can improve range of motion, reduce pain, and enhance joint mechanics to support activities like lifting legs, bending the spine, or walking.
Session Details
A typical manual therapy session lasts about 20–30 minutes, depending on your pet’s condition, tolerance, and treatment goals. Each session is customized to keep your pet comfortable while achieving the best results. For most pets, manual therapy is recommended 1–2 times per week initially, especially after surgery or when managing chronic pain. As your pet improves, the frequency may be reduced to bi-weekly or monthly maintenance sessions to support long-term mobility and comfort.
